We spotted a couple of Great Crested Grebes on Lake Burwain, Lovely colourful birds that can be seen all year round in England.

ree

On the trees too we saw ducks A male Mandarin duck with a female Mandarin duck sat chilling just above the waters edge.

Another common bird around Lake Burwain is of course the Robin, if you're lucky you can get it to feed from your palm by offering it some mealworm or small seeds.

The noise is the 1st thing you hear when spotting this next bird, "Geese"

Now into the actual water of the lake for our next animal "The Coot",an aquatic bird of the rail family, with blackish plumage, lobed feet, and a bill that extends back on to the forehead as a horny shield.

The wren is a tricky shot to achieve they are very skittish birds at the best of times but to see one stand still whilst you capture it with your camera is job well done. :)

ree

Also the Goldfinch is a colourful bird to see although when it's a juvenile it doesn't have the bright red on it's head, Their long fine beaks allow them to extract otherwise inaccessible seeds from thistles and teasels. Increasingly they are visiting bird tables and feeders.

ree

Last on our trip was "A Redshank" as its name suggests, redshanks' most distinctive features are their bright orange-red legs. They have a medium-length bill with an orange base to match, brown speckled back and wings and paler belly. Redshanks hunt for insects, earthworms, molluscs and crustaceans by probing their bills into soil and mud.
