Making my Reflection Pool

Updated: Apr 1, 2021

So a challenge going into 2021 was to build a new reflection pool, the goal to attract more birds/wildlife. However I wanted to make this one special and large enough for my ever expanding wildlife in the garden

As you can see from the above image the new frame is twice the size of the old reflection pool, a good base to start this project

One of my kind neighbours supplied me with some laminated boards which I cut down to size and bolted into the metal frame every other board, this was to lay a solid even base for the waterproof membrane to sit on.

The next stage was that after I had bolted all the boards in place I put gaffer tape all along the edges to help with keeping the water out from rain etc.

The next part of my task was to bolt onto the side some boards to attach the waterproof membrane onto, after this I used some screws with washers to attach the membrane to the outer side of the side panels.

Once all had been secured it was just a case of putting some logs and twigs at the far end of the pool and filling with water, my tip is that if you don't have a nice background ie garden or fence then stand up some plants in pots at the bottom of the pool so that when you have taken your picture it should look a little more pleasing on the eye.

As you can see from the above pictures, the captures are fantastic and with the summer months on the horizon i'm hoping for some more awesome shots or different species and maybe a fox or two :)

!!Happy Building!!
