Int. Dawn Chorus Day 2nd May 2021

Alarm set for 03:00 am on Sunday morning, this will give me enough time to wake up from my slumber, get the photography gear all ready and drive to my location.

Foulridge Upper Reservoir in Lancashire.

So just before the sunrise at about 05:00 am the birds started singing, "wow!" was the only word I could think of at the time, thousands of different calls from birds, bouncing over the vast expanse of the water and trees, From Wrens, Robins, Tree Creepers, Mandarin Ducks, Herons and Oyster Catchers to name but a few.

Using a phone app called The Photographers Ephemeris (https://app.photoephemeris.com/join) I was able to plan where and what time the sun would rise on that day (On Screen in yellow). so here I was ready for the sunrise too aswel as the Dawn Chorus.

One of the many ducks just gliding past the quiet waters in front of me. So out popped my Go-Pro to try and capture a time-lapse of the sun rising (Or Not) over the hills in the distance.

The rings on the Reservoir are actually fish jumping out of the water and trying to catch flies.

The time was now 05:30 and I managed a lovely shot of the suns rays breaking through the clouds, on a start of what was to be a very nice and warm day.

And just as it was time to go back home for a well deserved pot of warm coffee, a Mandarin duck waded past and gave me one last glance before its began its solitude swim across the mighty reservoir looking for food.

Hope you guys have enjoyed to what I personally got up to on International Dawn Chorus Day, And watching & listening to what was a spectacular morning show.

Steve
